Xbox Survey Wants To Know If You’ll Sell Your Digital Games
One advantage that physical copies of your favorite games have over their digital counterparts is that you can easily sell the disc to a friend or at one of those establishments that deal in used games once you’re done. You can’t do that as easily with a digital copy so there’s not really a way to make some money back once you’re finished with the game but it appears that Microsoft might be cooking up a way to make this happen.
A new Microsoft survey has appeared on Reddit and it’s asking people if they will “sell back” their digital Xbox games to Microsoft for 10 percent of the purchase price in return for Xbox Store credit.
So assuming that you paid $60 for a game, which is what most games are priced at, that would come out to $6. You can easily fetch $20 or more for a disc if it’s a relatively new title but some wouldn’t mind getting $6 for a digital copy since they don’t really have a residual value right now.
Customers are well aware that digital copies don’t have a residual value but they’re still purchasing them. Digital sales accounted for as much as 40 percent of sales at launch for popular titles so if Microsoft does come out with such a program there will be a lot of people who will happily trade-in their digital copies for 10 percent of the purchase price which they can use in the Xbox Store.
Keep in mind that this is just a survey that the company is conducting and there’s no confirmation as yet if it’s going to come out with such a program.
