Apple Announces The 9.7-inch iPad Pro

Aside from the iPhone SE, one of the new products Apple was expected to announce at their event is a new iPad. Given that the iPad Air lineup has not been updated in a while, many had expected Apple’s 9.7-inch iPad to get an update and sure enough it has. However interestingly enough it seems that this tablet will not be part of the Air family, but rather the iPad Pro family.
According to Apple, it will feature a “Pro” display, which means it will sport an Oxide TFT panel and a custom timing controller to help provide a sharper contrast ratio. It is also 40% less reflective than the iPad Air 2, so users who it professional to draw or sketch, this is something that you guys might be able to appreciate.
The tablet will sport a True Tone display. This measures the color temperature of ambient light, and will then change the displays color to better match the ambient light around you, meaning that depending on where you are, your iPad Pro’s screen will adjust itself to make it more pleasing to the eye.
It will also come with a pro audio system with four speakers surrounding the tablet, similar to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro’s design. Speaking of the iPad Pro, the 9.7-inch will also be powered by an A9X chipset and an M9 co-processor. There will also be an always-on “Hey Siri” feature, similar to the iPhone SE.
As expected, there will be a new Smart Keyboard designed for the smaller 9.7-inch display, and let’s not forget the Apple Pencil. Now while some might consider taking photos with a tablet a bit of a faux pas, the new iPad Pro will feature a 12MP with True Tone flash, and will also support Live Photos, along with 4K video recording.
As for pricing, the 32GB iPad Pro will go for $599, making it cheaper than its larger 12.9-inch sibling. It will also come in a 128GB for $749, and 256GB option for $899.
